Re: New right back almost done?
He won't get a work permit (as Peru are outside the top 50) without going through the "special talent" hearing. Not sure that his position as a potential reserve right back would get that won!

Re: New right back almost done?
He actually had a bit of a better second half to the season. A couple more assists (including one against Sporting Lisbon) for what was a very low-scoring side (in one run of 13 games he assisted 4 of the 6 goals that the team managed to score), and was in a few games that put some points on the board. Was missing for the last day 5-0 mauling by Braga.

He should be playing against Bolivia in the 1/4's of the Copa early Friday morning.

He'll only be a back up won't he? 5-10 games a season at most. Don't see a problem.

I'm starting to warm to this fella.

The 2 footed tackle is something sadly missing from the game.

Re: New right back almost done?
Of course, those are just numbers. I do kind of feel sorry for him based on those stats though. He's been moved all over the place. Might have been a good player in a poor team, though, given that he holds down an international spot in a reasonable side.

Re: New right back almost done?
So, he played for Vitória Setúbal FC last season when they narrowly escaped relegation from the top Portuguese league in front of home crowds of between one and three thousand spectators.

After missing the first two league games (a loss and a win) he played left back for the next (a draw) and then in two losses (a 0-5 at home to Benfica and a 0-2 away during which he was red carded). He missed the next two games (a win and a draw) but was back on the bench and eventually subbed on for the next game which they lost at home to Guimarães. He was then switched to right back for a 4-1 loss to Paços Ferreira (they had their keeper sent off in the second half losing 1-0) and also a 1-0 win against Maritimo at home (his first win of the season, and he got the assist for the goal). Vitoria lost the next four games without scoring with Advincula playing central defensive midfield against Sporting, right back against Estoril-Praia and Boavista and right wing against Porto who thrashed them 4-0. He was benched for the next game and played the last 12 minutes of a win against Moreirense. He was started at right wing against Arouca in a 1-0 loss to a late goal. On the bench against Braga (L) apart from the last 30 mins, and didn't make it off the bench for his team's biggest win of the season 4-1 against Rio Ave, did come off the bench to assist a late goal salvaging a draw against Gil Vicente. But didn't feature from the bench in the following 0-0 against Coimbra.

So that's over half a season. Two assists, a red card, and, despite playing in almost all the games, was only on the pitch to win five points from the team's haul of 19 by that point. Not exactly stellar.

Re: New right back almost done?
Sharpening a Gooner up by giving their player two seasons of Premier experience is borderline acceptable

Demanding a loan fee each season is taking the piss, though

I'd much rather us get our own player. How hard can it be to buy a decent right back?

Plenty of PACE... Likes to whip in CROSSES and has an acute eye for GOAL.

Re: New right back almost done?
If the interest is genuine I wonder will Peru fall within the FA's top 50? They're currently 61 but under the new FA rules they were at 33 in 2013 so he may sneak in under their 2 year average.

Re: New right back almost done?
Going by the video posted he looks decent at defending although didn't seem to get up the pitch much the opposite to Jenks really which I would prefer if he is a direct replacement and Bilic brings in wingers as has been suggested.

I hope he's better than Jenkinson who is far from the finished article.
